My husband and I have been married for 15 years; we have 3 children and care for our elderly parents. We have been on a winding road and have learned so much along the way. We fell in love just before graduating university. T’s mother did not approve because E is white and Jewish and T is Vietnamese and Catholic.

We persevered and set out to create our own path. We moved far from both our families to earn advanced degrees and to start our own family. It has been a wonderous adventure traveling across the USA and learning about each other. We trust in our communication, foster a sense of unending curiousity and commit to understanding one another. We now raise our children with the same values and commitments that have kept our marriage enduring.

With difficult elderly parents, we are dutiful and model to our children how to keep close and be respectful without losing our identity. This ring symbolizes our marriage (white and gold), swirled together, strong, beautiful and unique. We have saved for a long while to afford this trip to Japan and one ring. We cannot wait to visit and experience the wonder of Japan with our family!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and create our ring!

Warmest Regards,

T

M (Bride)

For most of my life, I never imagined I’d meet a partner who would be the one—the person who would stand by my side through all the highs and lows. Life, in its own strange way, led me to a place where I was content, even as I spent over a decade on my own. Ten years passed, and I focused on myself—on my career and building a life I could be proud of. But deep down, a part of me always held onto the hope that love would come when I least expected it. And then, I met my future husband in the most unexpected way—through a circle of mutual friends, years ago. We’d crossed paths before, but for whatever reason, the connection never quite clicked. There were no sparks.

Life moved on, and we went our separate ways, as so many friendships and acquaintances do, fading into the background of the years that followed. Little did I know, though, that the universe was quietly setting the stage for something beautiful. Then came that fateful New Year’s Eve, three years ago. It was one of those gatherings where the new year symbolised more than just fresh starts—it was a chance to reconnect with people from the past, to share memories and laughter. At first, it was nothing more than a friendly exchange, the casual conversation you’d expect at any party. But as the night went on, something shifted. We began talking more, and for the first time in years, I felt like I was truly seeing him. There was a warmth, an ease, a flow to our conversation that felt natural, almost as though we’d known each other much much longer than we actually had. It was as if the years of silence had been replaced by something far deeper.

That night marked the beginning of something special. We didn’t rush into anything. Instead, we let the friendship grow at its own pace, allowing the natural chemistry between us to blossom into something more. It felt like a second chance, a moment where we were given the opportunity to build a bond that had never fully formed before. We shared stories of where life had taken us in those years apart—laughing at the twists and turns, the mistakes, and the lessons learned. And somehow, it all felt so right. In those moments, I began to see him differently—not just as someone from my past, but as someone who could have a future with me.

As the months passed, I came to realise that the time I’d spent single—though challenging at times—was exactly what I needed. It had allowed me to grow, to learn about myself, and to become the person who was finally ready to share her life with someone else. And just like that, through a serendipitous encounter on a New Year’s Eve, I had met the man who would become my partner, my best friend, my everything. Now, when I look back, I realise that sometimes love doesn’t happen when you’re searching for it. Sometimes, it takes time, patience, and the willingness to embrace what’s meant to be. I never imagined that after so many years of being single, I’d meet the person I’d spend my life with. But here we are, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the journey that led me to him.

Life is funny that way. It teaches you to trust the timing of your story, even when it feels like things aren’t falling into place. And now, as I look toward our future together, I know that this was all meant to be. Marriage, much like bouldering, isn’t always a smooth ascent. There will be moments of doubt, times when we question whether we have the strength to keep going. We may fall, feel like giving up, or wonder if the summit is even worth the climb. But just like that climb, our love is built on the foundation of trust, teamwork, and resilience.

And as long as we face the challenges together, no wall will be too high, no boulder too big, for us to overcome.

T (Groom)

Originally, we planned to choose our wedding rings separately. I wanted something truly special, something I would be proud to wear for the rest of my life. When I discovered Mokumeganeya and learned the meaning behind mokume gane, I was immediately drawn to it. The layered metals becoming one felt like a true symbol of marriage. After I shared that meaning with her, what began as two separate choices became one shared decision.

My fiancée has beautifully told our story. She is the one who has made me certain that she is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, just as I was certain when choosing these rings. We are like those layers, different in personality, but stronger together. Combined as one, we create something unique that could not exist alone. Thank you for crafting our rings with care. We will carry their meaning with us for a lifetime.

Here's the story about us.

J is from Argentina, and M is from Japan. We both moved to New Zealand about 8-10 years ago.

We met each other online in 2024, and soon we realised that we were looking in the same direction in the future.

J works at a bank, and he's into health and fitness. M is a personal trainer. He had a cat, I had a dog.

The last book we had read before meeting each other was the same one. So, we share similar interests.

We were both born in April, and have a spiritual connection with Sakura.

It is an important flower for both of us, which is probably why we were drawn into the Mokumeganeya concept when we saw it for the first time.

We bothliked how the pattern reminds us of the Sakura tree, and how unique it was.

The reason we chose sapphire for the engagement ring is because we both like blue, and  M feels it matches her personality more than a diamond.

We are all good with social media posts if you would like to use our story.

Thanks!

My partner and I started dating in 2019 when we were both 3rd year undergraduate students.
Since then, we have gone through many life changes as individuals and as a couple.
We chose Mokumeganeya's rings because the blend of metals to create something beautiful yet unique, like wood grains in nature, represent many aspects of our lives and our story.

On the outside, we are both different people: he is more quiet, reserved, and methodical whereas I am energetic, talkative, and spontaneous.
However, we share compassion towards others, curiosity for everything from philosophy to computers, and a love for food, travel, and the simple joys in life.

While both our families immigrated from Asia, we both were born in the United States and grew up in a blended Asian American culture with peers from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life.
Our first major trip together was also to Japan, where we built very fond memories that we still look back on today.
We have always found the aesthetics of Japanese and other Asian art forms to be exceptionally beautiful and meaningful, making Mokumeganeya rings the perfect symbol of effort, harmony, and love.

Thank you very much to the incredibly skilled and passionate craftsmen of this wonderful art form!
As for permissions that were listed on the form attached, we will permit Mokumeganeya to use or share parts of the text above (if the company would like to post it,
I ask to please remove the first 2 sentences.) We also permit the use of only our initials.

Thank you again for your patience and Happy Holidays to you & the Mokumeganeya team!!

Best,
C

We are K and C. Two peas in a unique pod that came together later in life and share a common goal to enjoy our lives to the fullest.

Sometimes, this means we are off on road trips through new countries or hiking mountains together, but other times that means eating pizza at home (home cooked in our pizza oven!), watching movies and playing games together.

No matter whether we are at home or on travels around the world, nothing delights us more than hunting down a patisserie and sampling both tried and true and local and unique sweets.

These rings are something unique and not commonplace at your everyday jeweler. We really feel that this sums us up in a nutshell - doing things for our enjoyment, together, that may not be what everyone else is doing! It's important to us that these rings are built from the same Mokumegane plate, representing our own special unique connection that no one else will ever have.

These rings will be proudly worn every day, physically representing our love and commitment to each other, and symbolically signifying the journey of where we have come from and a path forward to a long and happy life together.

N and I first met in Illinois while attending college. We became close friends and eventually began dating during that time.

After graduation, we both moved to Los Angeles for work, where we have been building our life together for the past five years. In 2024, I proposed to N in Maui, Hawaii, and in 2025 we were married in Los Angeles—a city that has become our home.

This year, in 2026, we are planning to celebrate our marriage with three wedding ceremonies: in Japan, my hometown; in Vietnam, N’s hometown; and again in Los Angeles, where we were legally married and began this next chapter of our lives.

For these deeply meaningful ceremonies, we would love to wear wedding bands crafted by Mokumeganeya. The unique designs and the rich historical legacy of Japanese craftsmanship embodied in mokume-gane rings are the primary reasons we are drawn to your work.

The way tradition, history, and artistry are woven into each ring resonates strongly with us, and we feel it would be an honor to carry that legacy with us throughout our married life.

Thank you very much for your time, and we look forward to learning more about the process.

Our rings should tell that story: 80% + 80%, bound by fate and forged by choice, equals 100%

My name is V, and this is the story of L and me, for the rings and necklace you are making for us.

In the summer of 2022, I had just finished graduate school, ended a long-term relationship, and entered a season of quiet rebellion—choosing to bartend and tattoo instead of stepping immediately into a corporate career. L worked in the art industry, so our professional paths would likely never have crossed. He is deeply introverted and rarely went out, but that summer, his friends kept encouraging him to join them.

One of those friends happened to be my coworker at the bar, and she invited him to visit the bar where we worked one night. For L, it was love at first sight. We talked for hours. He left without my number, but returned again and again, hoping to see me—though I wasn’t working on those nights. On his fifth visit, he finally saw me behind the bar, walked over, and asked for my Instagram. When we went on our first date, I felt a wave of quiet comfort the moment I saw him walking toward me—like something inside just settled. I felt safe with this man I’d only just met.

Looking back, it was a perfect storm of unlikely choices: me stepping away from the corporate path, him stepping out of his comfort zone. Our lives had drifted close for years, but only when we both veered off-course did we finally collide. That’s why the pink gold “red string” in our design means so much. It represents that invisible thread—strong enough to pull two people together across time, distance, and every reason not to meet.

We are choosing forever because we love being together. Even in stillness, our presence feels warm and comforting to one another. I feel truly safe with L because I know he loves me completely and unconditionally—even the grumpy, moody, sensitive parts that others once criticized. He is my calmest supporter, the one who is genuinely happy to see me shine. That’s why the engagement necklace—with its single blooming sakura diamond—means so much. It represents his quiet pride in my light, and my trust in his steady support. And for L, he tells me he feels truly loved because I care for him in a way no one else ever has.

We chose Mokumeganeya because Mokume-gane feels like the metal expression of our truth: two strong, individual pieces fused under pressure—not to erase who they are, but to become something more resilient together. I once believed love was about finding a perfect fairytale match. What I’ve learned with L is that love is about finding someone who is 80% right and choosing each other through the remaining 20%. Through every argument, what kept us together was that we both chose to stay and rebuild. A relationship only works when two people continue to choose it. So, our rings should tell that story: 80% + 80%, bound by fate and forged by choice, equals 100% . The math doesn’t work on paper—but it works in love.

As you craft these pieces, please imbue them with our bond—both fated and chosen—and the feeling of home we return to in each other. Hidden within the design is our quiet promise: the aquamarine, placed on the outside of my ring and inside of his, so his inner strength becomes the foundation for my light. The sakura diamond of my engagement necklace is that light itself—a shining reminder that his support is the foundation for my light, and my light is the warmth that fills his home. We entrust our story and its meaning to your hands.

Thank you!

We chose you to craft our rings as they would be unique and one of a kind

Hi, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for creating these amazing pieces for us.

We have been a part of each others lives for almost ten years now. Both of us have felt slightly on the fringes of society but together we brought out the best parts of each other. We are a quiet and thoughtful couple, working to be the kindest versions of ourselves. We noticed the small beauties in the world.

Our shared love and mutual interests in different cultures of the world brought us to Japan. It was in Japan that D proposed to me in Hakuba, in a beautiful forest in front of a Shinto shrine. It was so peaceful, beautiful and just the two of us (We later saw a sign that said there was a bear in the woods and to be careful so there may have been three of us).

We chose you to craft our rings as they would be unique and one of a kind. That each time we looked at them it would show the link we have to each other, that they were crafted with love and care for us. It would be an honor to have a piece crafted by you with us for everyday of forever.

The wooden style element of the pieces for us would symbolize growth and strength in our commitment to each other and be a reminder that all things beautiful are worth working for.

All our love,

B and D

The art of Mokumegane feels like the perfect symbol for the union

From A:

L and I (A) first met in 2016 while we were still at school. We shared our first moments in class, on lunch breaks and hanging out after school and have been inseparable ever since. We have grown together side-by-side all the way from teenagers finding our way in the world to adults navigating life’s milestones: graduating, starting our careers, and moving in together.

Although we met in the same school, we come from very different backgrounds. I was raised in England by my English father and Japanese mother, while L moved here from Nepal, where his family originates. As such, it has been a beautiful blend of cultures, learning to understand, adapt to, and embrace each other’s traditions.

The art of Mokumegane feels like the perfect symbol for the union; a technique were different metals are fused into a single form to create something brand-new and unique!

It also has a special significance given it is a Japanese technique and as a way to incorporate and connect to my Japanese heritage. It means so much that my family, especially my grandmother, can be part of the ceremony and the creation of these rings, despite her health.

Time is precious and people will sadly not be here forever, but through this ring, we hope to keep our stories and history alive through generations. Thank you so much for creating something so beautiful and for helping us bring our families together in an heirloom. These rings are far more than jewelry to us—they hold our history, our cultures, and most of all our future.

Japan has a special place in her heart and we thought it would be unique to get a ring crafted in a place we both love.

Hello! We’re Mr.E and Ms.S :)

We’re from Singapore and now based in New York, and we met in graduate school in 2016 in California.

We’ve been together for 9 years and it’s special to us that we’ll be getting married on our 10th year “anniversary” in Provence, France.

We love food and sports. While travelling, I proposed in Patagonia,

when we reached the summit of the Laguna de los Tres - a 24km hike with ~3000 feet elevation gain!

We read up about Mokumegane online as we were looking for something unique and with an organic feeling.

Ms.S studied Japanese history and the language; she has an aunt in Chiba,

so Japan has a special place in her heart and we thought it would be unique to get a ring crafted in a place we both love.

We chanced upon the store in Ginza on our last day in Tokyo and made the order 5 hours before our flight back to New York - very ギリギリ!

Fun fact: We thought Mokumegane sounded similar to how the Rings of Power were forged in The Lord of the Rings (we are fans); you are our Celebrimbor!

C.E & S.L
