Dear Mokumeganeya Craftsmen,

My partner and I have been together for 5 years now and are now taking the next step in our relationship. We first met while travelling in Australia and have been together ever since. We both love to travel and see the world and we have been to many beautiful places in the last 5 years together.

One of our favourite holidays was to Japan where we saw the cherry blossoms in Hokkaido and the rest of your beautiful country. This is why we have chosen you for our engagement ring. We hope to have many more amazing adventures as husband and wife in the future.

Our relationship has been one of sharing and supporting one another's past, present, and future. I strove to provide her a　sanctuary to safely and comfortably cultivate a career, home, and friendships in a new land, while she strengthened and　transformed my relationship with my own heritage - something I never thought I would ever reconnect with.

When we started　dating, she had just arrived in Canada, and I had just graduated from university, and we were both just finding our footing in　the weird new working world during the pandemic. However, it was really through music (and karaoke!) that we first really bonded. Because of our relationship, both of us tried things that we otherwise would never have tried and gone to places we would　never have gone, and now, we are set to embark on another great adventure together. I found in her not only a life partner, but also a best friend.

So for various reasons, the story of the red thread is relatable; our meeting seemed to be a confluence of uncanny　coincidences and the few years since then have simultaneously felt so much shorter and longer than it really has been. So、when we came across Mokumeganeya, at a time when we were set to be in Japan together for the first time, and saw the Sakura Diamond -- a manifestation of that contradiction, of fleeting beauty , yet eternal -- I thought it was a perfect encapsulation of that oxymoronic feeling.

Dear Craftsmen、

Thank you so much for taking the time and care to handcraft our rings. It means so much to us knowing they are　being made by skilled artisans with such thought and intention behind them.

We are both lovers of Japan, and our very first overseas trip together was to Japan only six months into dating. It was such a beautiful, fun, and romantic trip, and it became one of the most special memories of our relationship.　While we were there in 2022, A　surprised me with a visit to your store where I was able to try on rings.

Even back then, we both knew deep down that we would end up getting married one day. From that moment, it was always our plan to have his ring made with your company one day because the experience felt so meaningful and memorable to us.

A is a very romantic person, and when he proposed he organised a mystery picnic for me. So many of the details were inspired by Japan — there was matcha, sushi, and even a book all about Japan. It felt incredibly thoughtful and personal, and perfectly reflected such a big part of our relationship together.

Japan has become very special to us as a couple, and I am constantly trying to convince A that we need another trip back one day — especially because I would love to see the cherry blossoms together. Knowing that our rings are being crafted in Japan by your team makes them even more meaningful to us.

We were drawn to Mokumegane because of the timeless element of each ring being unique. Just like our every relationship is unique and every moment a new chance we hope our relationship can be timeless as well.

We met through a mutual friend group that plays games online together. When the group eventually met up in person for the first time, we immediately connected and soon started dating. We took our first big trip as a couple to Japan and made wonderful memories.

Now as we prepare to join our lives, celebrating and embodying our love with the beautiful craftsmanship of Mokumeganeya felt like a perfect reflection of our journey. We love the intricate wood grain pattern and elegant, yet simple designs—so much so that we designed matching engagement rings and wedding bands for us both.

I met my partner, S, almost 3 years ago, just after COVID had kept me inside and away from human interaction.　She worked at a local coffee shop, and was one of the first people I connected with in a very long time. I would　come in and order the same drink every day, and everyday, she would make it for me. As time went on, we slowly　started talking more, forming an alliance based on our mutual love for a specific pastry. "Pumpkin danish gang". We would say to each other with a knowing nod.

One day, I mentioned I was going out of town, on a trip to Italy　and needed someone to watch my cats, and she said she would love to do it for me. A week before i left for my trip, she came over to meet my cats. We ended up sitting down and chatting for hours. The conversation flowed easily between us. I thought she was so beautiful, I never imagined I would ask her out.

Later that night, she sent　me a text message, and we exchanged messages back and forth for several more hours. We decided to hang out one more time, the night before i left for Italy. She mentioned a TV show that I should　watch and suggested we watch it together. She came over, brought some tea for us to share, and we stood in my　kitchen, for hours, talking, just like the first time she　came over. It wasn't until almost midnight that we noticed　the time and decided, "We better watch this show." She ended up staying until almost 3am, chatting.

While I was in Italy, we talked every day, I sent her pictures of what I was doing, and she sent me pictures of the cats. The moment I got home, we hung out at her place, and decided that there was a very real connection between us.

A　and M met in the Caribbean.

A is originally from Portugal and M from Türkiye.

We are both very curious and passionate about travelling. We love to learn from different backgrounds and cultures, going after the unique sights, experiences and flavors from different nations.This passion led us to have almost a nomadic life, having lived and worked in few different countries and have travelled to many more.

For our engagement rings we wanted something truly unique, something that would represent our love and the travel impact in our life and how in the midst of all the different pathways we could have chosen, the ones we did choose led to our adventure together.

On a different note, Japan has been A's dream trip for a long time. Knowing how proud Japanese are on their culture, history and art, we decided to look if there was something truly unique when it came to jewelry in Japan. And we quickly came across Mokumegane, which was immediately the perfect choice!

To share a little bit about us, T and I met many, many years ago during schooling and we began dating many years after knowing each other and becoming very good friends. We've since been dating for almost nine years and our relationship has been marked with a deep sense of belonging, support, and joy that has only　strengthened throughout the various transitions in life we navigated together: graduating high school, transitioning from teens to young adults in college and then subsequently graduating from college, starting the next chapter of adult life, and establishing our identities through work and other exploration.

Now, this next stage　we're entering is around prioritizing ourselves and making the decision to take our relationship to the next level,　to adopt a stronger identity around our commitment to one another, first as fiancé and fiancée and then as　husband and wife.　It is on this latest stage of life that brought us to Mokumeganeya.

Throughout her life, T has always been　incredibly selfless and has given herself completely to uplift her family and friends. Two years ago, for the first　time in her life, T was able to do something that she had always dreamed of - to travel abroad and live independently in a foreign country. Throughout this time, her love and deep respect for Japanese culture has only　grown stronger, and I'm certain her experience here will leave a profound, indelible mark.

As her time in Japan　comes to an end, this ring will serve as a cherished memento of this period of our lives and symbolize a formal reunion between us as we build the next chapter in life together. We sincerely thank you for being a part of our story.

Customer's Chosen Design: Sakura Ichirin (Engagement Ring)

Me and my partner met each other during our study in South Korea. On a whim, we got on the ferry to Japan for Chuseok. This is where our story started, with me asking her out in Fukuoka. In a way, choosing Mokumeganeya is fitting as this was where everything started. The design is also ideal in that I was able to modify the base model to fit in symbolism.

First in having a plum as it is an important motif for winter as it blooms during winter, just as she　was born in December. Second of all, the design lends itself to many other small but meaningful symbolism. The 5　petals, which together with the diamond carat and the circular shape of a ring, combined together would be the　amount of days since I was born until that fateful event when I asked her out in Japan.

For both of us, the outdoors have always been something that we cherish. This is another reason why I chose　Mokumeganeya, as they are one of the few that incorporate nature in a very delicate way into the ring. Starting from blending two metals (white gold and yellow gold), to organic branches that twirl into a plum.
