This is a Koi fish shaped “Obidome” created by Sounyusai Yoshida in the
late Meiji period. He was an apprentice of Masayuki Yoshida, the professor
of the department of hammering at Tokyo University of the Arts.
“Obidome” is women’s accessory worn around the Obi. Spotted pattern of
Mokume Gane which appeared very softly, is adding reality to the Koi fish.

The old wood materials which we are exhibiting in Ginza store are used as components that maintained the roof on shrine.
To protect the building from fire, they carved wave patterns to the wood materials to symbolized the water, and placed it on the roof so the shrine itself will be blessed.
